The Toughest Trek #2

October 2023 marked the 5th anniversary of Fergus Farrell’s workplace accident that resulted in him becoming a patient of the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) Spinal Programme. One year after his accident Fergus walked from Athenry, Galway to the NRH, Dún Laoghaire over 5 days to raise vital funds to support the Spinal Service and the Physiotherapy Service in the NRH.

In 2022, along with his friend Damien Brown, they attempted to break a world record, in a rowing challenge from New York to Galway.

To mark the 5th anniversary of his accident, Fergus took on the challenge of running from Athenry to the NRH. On the anniversary week in October 2023, Fergus and his friend Robbie completed the challenge in 4 days, running 52Km per day and raising an astonishing €8,641.81 for the NRH Spinal Programme.

Thank you so much Fergus for all your hard work and dedication you have given to supporting other patients who need the services of the NRH Spinal Injury Programme. We would also like to thank Robbie for his amazing support and for undertaking and successfully completing this running challenge with Fergus. Well done to you both on completing this extraordinary challenge and for raising such a fantastic amount of money for the Charity.
