The St. Valentine’s Ball returned on Saturday 17th of February 2018. The NRH Medical Social Work Department and the Valentine’s Ball Committee hosted this extravaganza. The theme for 2018 was masquerade and the ball returned to the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire.
The ball is held to raise much needed funds for the ‘Valentine’s Fund’, a patient support fund, in the NRH. All monies raised go direct to provide financial support for NRH patients and their families who are facing significant challenges following a life altering illness/accident. This Fund was set up in 2007, and to date has provided an opportunity for the NRH Social Work Department to be responsive to individual and family needs in exceptional circumstances where no other resources may be accessible to them. The funds are used exclusively for the benefit of patients and their families within the NRH. The Social Work Department allocates funding on the basis of assessed need and inability to source funding through other statutory and voluntary bodies.
The night was a great success. After a prosecco reception, guests were invited to take their seats for the meal, followed by dancing til the early hours to the fantastic tunes of the Pat Fitz’s Band.
The Valentine’s Ball Committee were donated some fantastic prizes to auction on the night.
A huge thank you to all who attended the ball, donated on the night and to those who bought auction prizes. These funds raised are truly so valuable to the NRH Medical Social Work Department and the great work they do to support patients and families of the NRH.
