Not one, not two, but three Easter bunnies joined us in the National Rehabilitation Hospital over the Easter Weekend. Thanks to Butlers Chocolates and Dunnes Stores, the bunnies were able to make a great Easter Egg hunt for the NRH Paediatric Patients, and bring them lots of joy and happiness during their long stay in hospital.
The paediatric programme helps children rehabilitate after brain injury, spinal injury, or limb absence as the result of an accident, illness or injury and they would spend on average 3 months in the NRH. There is a school in the hospital so the children can keep up to date with their studies too. Once a child has been a patient in the Paediatric Programme, they will continue to have a lifetime relationship with the NRH.
With the new development due for completion in the next few months, the Paediatric Programme will have a designated unit which will contain all their resources in one place, such as a: Paediatric Gym, School, Bedrooms, Recreational Room, Multi-Sensory Therapy Room, Adolescent Den, Therapeutic & Sensory Garden, Music Therapy Room, Fully accessible Playground etc.
Because of our fundraisers and donors support, they have made it possible to fund much of the equipment throughout this new Paediatric Unit.
We do have items for the Paediatric Programme that still require funding, if you can help towards their funding, contact us on: Fundraising@NRH.ie
