The NRH is very lucky to have the wonderful Garda Gavin Fleet as our local Community Garda. Gavin has been a long-time supporter of the NRH and is regularly on site to help answer any questions for patients and staff.

Gavin was also involved in the creation of the “Valentine’s Ball”, a fundraising charity ball that raises vital funds for the NRH Medical Social Work (MSW) Department, to support patients and their families where no other sources of funding is available.

This year Gavin decided to set up a fundraising run within the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) East Garda Division.

A group of Gardaí took on the challenge of running 50 miles in February 2023 to support the NRH Valentine’s Fund and raised an amazing €3,095.

Members of the fundraising group, along with the Chief Superintendent Matthew Nyland and Superintendent Fergal Harrington came into the NRH recently to officially hand over the funds raised to the NRH Team.

Holly, a paediatric patient of the service very kindly attended the event in the NRH and accepted the cheque on behalf of the MSW Department.

We are so grateful for this wonderful support from Gavin and An Garda Síochana. These funds will allow the NRH MSW Department to help patients and their families in real impactful ways. Thank you so much again for this amazing support.
