2023 NRH Photography Exhibition

The annual NRH Photography Exhibition will run from Monday the 30th of January to Friday 24th of February in the DLR Deansgrange Library.

Photos in this Photography Exhibition have been created by Patients & Staff of the National Rehabilitation University Hospital (NRH) for Adults & Children.

The Collection

The artistic and varied collection of photographs in this exhibition were created by patients and staff who attended a photography course in the NRH, Dún Laoghaire.

These images were included in a fundraising calendar that was sold by the NRH Foundation.  New images from the photography course and art work, by patients, both adult and children, in the NRH have been used to create our charity Christmas Cards too.

The images from this photography exhibition are available to purchase to raise vital funds for the hospital.  If interested please contact: Bill.Nelson.ie@gmail.com

Creative Arts Therapy at the NRH

Photography plays an important role in rehabilitation at the NRH.  It can provide an excellent platform to empower patients, by developing their personal creative skills.  It can help restore and rehabilitate a person’s level of functioning and independence in life activities following an accident, illness, or injury. Creative Arts Therapy at the NRH incorporates Art and Music Therapy which are evidence based professions that work within an interdisciplinary team using art and music to support patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals. Music therapy is the prescribed use of music to effect positive changes in the psychological, physical, cognitive, or social functioning. Art therapy uses arts-based methods and is delivered as a clinical intervention to support and assist patients in breaking barriers to verbal expression, increasing confidence and self-esteem, and reducing stress.
