February 2023 saw the return of the NRH Medical Social Work (MSW) Charity Ball “The Valentine’s Ball”. The ball took place in the Royal Marine Hotel and was a 1920’s themed Black Tie event.
Guests were greeted by live music and a prosecco reception, before being called into the function room for a 3-course dinner.
It was an honour to have Lester Cassidy as the keynote speaker on the night. Lester, a past NRH spinal patient, became the first wheelchair user to scale Croagh Patrick last summer, while raising over €73,000 for the NRH Spinal Programme. Lester spoke to the room about his journey coming to the NRH at the age of 19 to how he came to climb Croagh Patrick.
Seán Buckley hosted the auction and then it was on to the Bobby Mc Band who kept the dance floor filled until the early hours of the morning.
Thank you to the NRH MSW Department and Valentine’s Ball Committee for putting this amazing event together and raising €38,089.62 for the NRH “Valentine’s Fund”, a patient support fund in the NRH.
